little angels, little time

last sunday, me and the scuba junkies went up to tagaytay. now its not something really new to the gang because we usually pass by there (to eat bfast/dinner before/after anilao or to just literally “pass by”). but this weekend was no dive trip. no getting high with excess nitrogen swimming in the blood vessels. this weekend was all natural high. from the the innocent smiles to the joy of them lil kids eyes.

a few days back, cris told us that she would be going back to visit Little Angels in tagaytay, an orphanage managed by nuns, which i never heard of before nor do i have any experience of visiting such place. (ive joined a couple of outreach programs before though back in my mountaineering days but it was more on helping families on remote areas near them mountains).

she said it was something she wanted to do for her birthday, to bring goodies to them cute lil kids and spend the day with them. and since it was something positive, the gang was all up for it. and while she was busy briefing us about what we can bring on one ym conference window, there was another window open without her and the topic what we can do for her birthday. the plan was made.

D-day. jocs, pax and i met up early to buy her a big cake (which was actually more planned for the kids) and the goodies/food supplies. then headed up to tagaytay an hour before the other group leave makati. of course we told cris we werent coming hehe. after pax zooomed (literally, again) our asses there, we looked for the orphanage. found. talked to the nice sisters there and gave them the heads up about the plan. since they already know cris, they excitedly agreed :D the cake hidden and them kids ready to sing the bday tune, we waited til the other junkies arrive.

and when they did, she got into a surprise. we went out from hiding (in the kitchen) and brought her the cake and sang her the bday thing. the kids later on put on a lil show and we all watched. the rest of the afternoon we played with the kids like we were young again hehehe. bumalik kami ni fhay sa roots namin, yung tumakbo takbo ng walang sense pero tumatawa hahahaha. sayang nasa loob lang kami ng compound, mas masaya sana if pwede sa may field sa labas hehe.

im no saint and i know i havent done much for others since i spawned here on earth (im one selfish muthafucker, yes), but theres something in them kids that (as cheesy as this may sound) touched my soul. my parents went away when i was in third grade. but they would come and visit every few years until they decided to come home permanently. theirs is a different story. their parents went away but they cant really hope for them to come back. i saw and felt how they long for family.

its really nice to be able to make them smile even for just a while but it kinda felt frustrating to know that i cant do anything for them that is permanent and long term. realistically speaking, im not capable yet of doing any big stuff for them or any other people who needs help. im still trying to save my own ass in my own war hehehe. still though, im thankful i went there. (thanks cris and happy birthday ulet)

so there, not really the most typical of birthdays. nobody got drunk. no ledge dancing (hello iva and haze!). no unlimited pulutan and bottomless cocktails. no karaoke-drunk-babble singing. no hip-hop or house music to dance to. no tipsy photo ops. it was just the junkies, the kids and a whole afternoon of kiddie fun. hehehe, and for the first time i felt… damn, i wish it was my birthday :)

before sunrise

2005 era. Benny St. cor Blumentritt, Manila.

ape: since i was a just lil kid, i have this thought about people following and leaving lines. an invisible fluid-like line of some sort that each person has. that each person traces. the line starts when a soul is conceived and ends when a person dies. and these lines are scattered all over the world. if it were to be visible, the earth would look like a giant ball of yarn. and these lines get tangled with other lines, sometimes for long periods of time, sometimes for just a few seconds…

cat: yea… and maybe we can say that sometimes people trace a common line at one point of their lives, or maybe they shared their lines and it became one… right? then it’ll either break into two lines again or just continue on flowing…

ape: hmm, yea, you made it sound like a spice girls song though

cat:
hehehe. jerk.

2008 era. Pasong Tamo cor Buendia, Makati.

cat: i remember years ago you told me about something about a line that each person has, back in your old apartment…

ape: hehe yea, i think our lines broke and went on separate directions but somehow got tangled again, though in a different way this time. i think we will be good friends for a very long time

cat: why? because we proved we are both jerks? hehe

ape: maybe. but then again, aint we all?

cheetah lets go!!! to the batcave!!!

let us say i got a thousand mossad agents at my disposal. then i launch an operation against the city of makati and overthrow binay and his posse. build adamantum fences around the city and nothing comes in or out. kill all humans inside that are over the age of 1 year.

so all thats left in the city is me, my mossad and crying babies in their cribs. half of my army should be women so they’d be able to take care of them kids. i will be the king, the god, the president. i will be the book, the constitution. i will teach these kids that i created makati for them, out of thin air. i will put my face on cheap plastic coins and tell them they need to work for it so they’d have stuff to eat. i will create laws. i will make up things, smart and absurd ones. hell i might even say that aquaman is real.

i can say anything and they will believe me. every word for every peso in their arses. they will follow every saliva-blast i give ‘em. they have nothing else to believe in, anyways, but me, and my mossad. the truth will be me and everything i have in my hands. sure, some would go awol and would try to be smartasses, but i’d crush ‘em like im making triple taro ice and others will just see them as crazies.

what am i trying to say here? nothing. im actually trying to ask something here…

what IS the truth? are we sure that all the things we know and believe in, especially about the past, are true? are “real”?

let us say i raised 500 kids in that city, and 490 heads believe me and only 10 are skeptics. aquaman will still remain real until those 10 overthrows me.

Zeitgeist

a friend sent me this link. now im sharing it to you guys, just in case you havent seen this yet. feed your mind, chew like you got the smallest throat in the planet and spit out what you do not taste as real food for your head.

Zeitgeist was created as a non-profit filmiac expression to inspire people to start looking at the world from a more critical perspective and to understand that very often things are not what the population at large think they are. The information in Zeitgeist was established over a year long period of research and the current Source page on this site lists the basic sources used / referenced. Soon, an Interactive Transcript will be online with detailed footnotes and links so exact sources and further research can be relayed.

Now, it’s important to point out that there is a tendency to simply disbelieve things that are counter to our understanding, without the necessary research performed. For example, some information contained in Part 1 and Part 3, specifically, is not obtained by simple keyword searches on the Internet. You have to dig deeper. For instance, very often people who look up “Horus” or “The Federal Reserve” on the Internet draw their conclusions from very general or biased sources. Online encyclopedias or text book Encyclopedias often do not contain the information contained in Zeitgeist. However, if one takes the time to read the sources provided, they will find that what is being presented is based on documented evidence. Any corrections, clarifications & further points regarding the film are found on the Clarifications page.

That being said, It is my hope that people will not take what is said in the film as the truth, but find out for themselves, for truth is not told, it is realized.

you there, mate?

a few days ago, i was talking to a metalhead friend who claims he doesnt believe in a god or a supreme being or whatever you call it. i was intrigued by this and asked him if theres a story behind it. he said he lost faith in god because as he got older he realized religious people are all hypocrites. like how catholics go to sunday mass then beat their kids up when they get home or how muslim extremists blow themselves up in the name of allah. he said how can you have faith in a god and its religion when your pope is molesting kids and is getting away with it. hmmm :-?

well, i gotta agree. religion has been and will always be the root of all evil in this world (yes, its not them benjamins). we did hang the heliocentrics only to realize later they were right after all. accused the hesitant heads as witches and burned them alive on the stakes. invaded foreign lands in his [various] names and converted them locals to whatever belief we were bringing in. used napalm on others as we stamp our papers that we trust only in god. we blew up public buses and coffee shops with the thought that we’re doing god’s words. we got stuff like theocracy, racism, homophobhia and so on and so on and soooo on.

but you see, even with all of these atrocities in our ancient and modern history, it doesnt say one bit if there really is or if there really aint a god. and in my opinion, its because believing in a god is something really really personal. the institutions that represents or offers god may not be 100% believable, hell most of what we have are just absurd, but come to think of it, do we really need them as basis for a supreme being? if we look into what us mere humans have done to each other in his name, we will only find ourselves laughing our arses off with the idea of a, and again, a god.

if we wanna know if he exist, i dont think the histories of the world can do much help. we gotta read our own history inside our own inner planet. ive read mine, and i think its rick james thats up there. now aint that a bitch?! #-O

third 3y3

“Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities — the political, the religious, the educational authorities — who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing — forming in our minds — their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable open-mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability to inform yourself.”
