here’s a short clip i took from a dive in mamsa point in apo island. i dont know why, but evertime i see such surreal scene underwater like this one, the urge to take pix and vids somehow gets set aside and it feels like i just wanna stay there and experience and dive with ‘em creatures. at 00:16 of this short vid, you’ll notice that i wasnt even looking at the viewfinder anymore haha. i’ll be back for you apo island, wait for me this summer! im gonna bring lotsa diver friends too! just wait!
friday afternoon, there was plenty of time to bum around and get sunscorched in front of the apo island beach resort.
#10: Happy Horse
saturday night, my first bottle of redhorse in cocogrove’s bar was one of ‘em supposedly stronger-kickin happy horses!
#9: Chicken Crepe
sunday afternoon, after getting off delta3 ferry we looked for a place around dumaguete to have lunch. we found coco amigo’s along rizal boulevard.
#8: Wild Wild Ride Malatapay-Apo Island
friday morning, the sun was shining brightly over the visayan sky but the waves were raging like some crazy bitch. that was definitely a test for the faithful haha.
#7: Gummmmy Bears
friday afternoon, we put the kid’s brand new IXUS 75 for some macro bending tests and these gummy bears were up for the act.
#6: The Kid and Macky The Island Parrot
sunday noon, while waiting for the transpo that will take us back to siquijor port, we snapped a few more pix with macky.
#5: Island Read
friday afternoon, the kid decided to doze off late in the afternoon so i picked up my latest read, the lazarus vendetta, and waited for the sun to drown.
#04: Habal-Habal Blues
sunday morning, we went up to the town of siquijor to see some spots and also to buy whatever sweets we can bring back home. of course we traveled siquijor-style… habal-habal baby!
#3: Trust Me, It’s Paradise
friday afternoon, one of my fave pix from apo island… crystal water, blue sky, white sand and a bronze skin girl
#2: Jackfish Jacks!!!
saturday morning, we were already on our way up, at around 40feet my divemaster pointed out to a couple of jackfish to our left. i was disappointed but took pix of them anyways. then he signaled me that we will follow them jackfishes. and there it was, the mothership. goddamnit! the largest school of jackfish ive ever seen in my entire shit.
#1: The Kid and The Gorilla
dumaguete-dauin-apo island-siquijor-san juan… we wont stop walking kid wanna ride the 1:30pm delta2 again???
i can tell you what people from youtube or wikipedia say about this Academy-nominated 1998 short film by Mark Osborne. i can also tell you what i think of it or what it means from my own perspective, but…
dont you think your mind will work much better for your own head? time to feed your soul.
last night i watched switchfoot play live at cuneta astrodome with my friends omar, lei and mylene. we had to wait in line for like 2 hours but it was worth it. salamin opened for them and did 3 songs, or was it 4 songs… including the one they did with the vox’s brother (gab valenciano) playing the djembe. then it was switchfoot time. i gotta hit the road so i’ll just continue the story tomorrow, including the part where they ate balot onstage and their rhythm axeman was freaking out LOL.
“that time i was trying to heal, i kept on telling myself, “you are stronger than this, you are way stronger than this”…. he was the one who told me these words and i think it helped that i just kept on repeating them to myself. then it became pretty ironic because years later, i found myself telling him that exact same line. the world turned. but ive decided im not gonna be around anymore to watch it turn for him again.”
9 days ago, 6 huge crabs knocked the lights out of me cutting me and the kid’s lamontoma spree. 26 pa lang ako pero tumaas ata presyun ko langya! hehe. so last friday, binge was the word again, but without them decapods this time
the evening started with mr. roma’s baby backs-carolinas-ridge smokies-red hots rib sampler and a huge platter of their ocean feast…
…then went to the land down under for some wallaby darned, lava flow and smb drafts…
…then asked the cubans for some of their mojitos and hanged around to drift on good afro-cuban music…
…stopped over at the kid’s fave place to get some mango mandarin…
…then to the box to sing(shout?) our throats out while keeping it wet with absinth and mai tai’s…
…when we decided to finally let go the mic and head to bedspace for some of their tequila tubes, we found out it was already closed. not only that, it was raining like shit. hey i tried my best to sing suspicious minds right but still, god overreacted hehe.
it was one of them nice binge-nights. well its not like the kid and i do it all the time. we have a rule that we should only binge like crazy once per full moon. not because its bad for the health, but primarily because it aint good for the stash
Boy 1: The big deal is dope, you got it? Boy 2: If you wanna be a dealer, you gotta start as a delivery boy, see? Boy 1: This delivery boy business is real bullshit. The time it takes being a delivery boy, then security and then manager, is way too long. Boy 2: What you gonna do? You’ve gotta wait for them to die… Boy 1: No way! I’ll do it just like Pequeno did: you gotta whack everyone and that’s it!
“you think there’s really a pot of happiness at the end of this grayscale rainbow? i’ve always think of it as something way bigger than what i expect of it to be. but so far, it has come in small sharp pieces that usually cut me one way or another. large ones only bring larger scars. sometimes i feel that im already being too familiar with this state of acceptance. that the pot isnt what im really looking for. i simply just wanna see the end of this grayscale rainbow.”
