turn on, tune in, drop out

ask alice...

“My advice to people today is as follows: If you take the game of life seriously, if you take your nervous system seriously, if you take your sense organs seriously, if you take the energy process seriously, you must turn on, tune in, and drop out.”

–Timothy Leary

bourne… jason bourne.

this was the last scene (with the sick moby song) in the bourne supremacy flick back in 2004. it is also a big part in this year’s the bourne ultimatum, the last part of the bourne trilogy written by robert ludlum. there are two more sequels after ultimatum but its not written by ludlum anymore, ive read somewhere though that its based on the notes he left after he died.

if you like spy thrillers, youre in for some treat. but dont expect flashy european cars with sexy leading ladies in it or laser-blasting swiss knives and all that crazyass gadgets. this film has a more realistic feel into it. sounds boring? believe me, it doest mean it wont get ya on the edges of your php180 seats B-)

storm in the hole

san ka magyoyosi kung umuulan sa pool area? eh di sa pantry! nyehe

some guy from pagasa was on the radio this morning. he said that typhoon egay just got a lil stronger. its still heading west, to the phi. so thats why it raining like shit, i said to myself. “but dont get the wrong notion that this rain we’re having right now is egay itself already, its the habagat, this is pretty normal.” the guy suddenly said through the cab speakers. thanks a lot einstein, yuz’a mindreader too?

i wonder what geronimo’s posse used to do to stop the rain… :-?

Free Willy

its really confusing how we were fed that god gave us free will but he is also omniscient at the same time. now aint that a mouthful or what?

you see, it is said that god knows the past, the present and the omega-pain-killin future. he knows what a nerdy lizard ate for breakfast back in the triassic era. he knows youve been sneaking out of the house to meet up with Divino Otsu. and he knows what you’ll be thinking after reading this pose. (GOD: you are now thinking that jeo is a moron because it should be “post” and not “pose”) see? i told you he’s good… he’s really good. ;))

now how can man have free will when some omniscient fella already knows what he will choose? let say youre at home one saturday playing GTA, youre cruising vice city as victor. on the next corner you see a fatass dweeb dancing to La Vida Loca. now the urge of running him over pops up. and then you say “No! god knows i would wanna run his ass flat so im not doing it, i got me free will!” then god silently gives ya a smirk, thinking “i already know that you will choose not to choose the choice you think ive chosen for you”.

so you turn your psp off and eat seven carrots instead. :|

this actually looks like an ode to one of teena’s previous posts. so i hadda put dates just to be safe from any issue. hehe, nah im just kidding. i was browsing over photos taken in bora and pagudpud and i noticed a couple of shots that looked strangely the same :)) and then i thought to myself, “and her friends say that i always look too serious and grumpy”.

koala ninja tunes

kid koala

if you like listening to mix master mike, dj qbert and other turntablists, you should definitely check out kid koala’s work. an asian/canadian dude. it is said that he was classically trained in music and he started scratching at a very young age. he is on another realm of turntable art. he incorporates a lotta jazz, blues and other old samples in most of his music. and i think this sets him apart from the rest.

here are some online clips of his work. basin street blues (music video), drunk trumpet (live), and moon river (live). i’ll try to upload all of his studio albums soon.

letting the cables sleep

thursday & friday night. i sat down with my former psychology prof (ok, she’s not old, she’s just 4 years ahead of me hehe) for dinner and some(?) drinks. i havent seen her for more than 3 years, i guess. along with sir stalin of my philosophy class, she was one of my only two fave profs back in college. she have stopped teaching for years now and is currently working for san miguel in ortigas. so after years of constant biddings and drawings, we finally hang out again.

we talked about old and new stuff, what we have been up too in our own lives. it was kinda nostalgic. back in the days, we would talk a lot even after classes. about whatever was the last topic in class. or about why people have a soul. or how the human mind works for/against us. or which stall in the canteen serves better bakedmac. or how thrilling it is to travel alone. she was actually the first person to feed me the idea of going to places around the phi without anyone else but yourself. she’s been doing it way before i met her. and she’s still doing it til now.

used with permission! ehehehe :P

conversations with her have always been healthy for me and me mind. i decided to throw a few jumpin beans about recent cases and as usual, she gave me the right dosage. one of the things i realized is… most of the time, we think we are always making our own choices but the fact of the matter is some of those choices are actually based on how other people around us made theirs. so weither things go bad or great, its a collective effect of a hundred creature’s choices. so its all good hehe. of course i also blabbed about senseless shit like i usually do hehe.

she’s getting married this december :) and i can see she’s pretty excited about it. im glad i got to see and talk to her again after such a long time. i think she helped me tighten up a couple of loose screws up in my head. so yea, everything IS in its right place. :D

memento #1

subic wreck diving

Situated between Grande Island and the southern tip of the Subic runway, the WW2 Allied LST wreck lies deep at more than 100 feet. Its inhabited by a variety of fishes like this huge school of pygmy snappers. i think i took this photo at around 90 feet. narc!
