i think i first heard this song some 6 years ago from the movie crazy/beautiful. i know what youre thinking… “what the? this is a cheezy-ass song and thats a cheezy-ass movie!” yea, i’d have to agree haha. but you know, sometimes you gotta put some White Ladder songs on your Arise playlist
This years love had better last
Heaven knows its high time
And Ive been waiting on my own too long
But when you hold me like you do
It feels so right
I start to forget
How my heart gets torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Feeling like you cant go on
Turning circles when time again
It cuts like a knife oh yeah
If you love me got to know for sure
Cos it takes something more this time
Than sweet sweet lies
Before I open up my arms and fall
Losing all control
Every dream inside my soul
And when you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing aint this life so sweet
This years love had better last
This years love had better last
So whose to worry
If our hearts get torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Dont you know this life goes on
And wont you kiss me
On that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singing aint this life so sweet
This years love had better last
This years love had better last
This years love had better last
This years love had better last
so my lil bro arrived from from the UAE last saturday. we picked him up at the airport around 4 in the afternoon and after an early dinner at dampa sucat, we headed straight home, not to makati, but home, to batangas. he worked as a bartender in one of 5 star hotels on the Jumeirah beach area. that explains why he only brought a small bag of chocolate goodies but 3 huge bags of spirits and cocktail mixes.
he brought me a 2007 desert rock festival shirt and videos he took from the show. the prodigy, in flames, incubus, children of bodom and iron fucking maiden in one show! damnit. my bro said last year was even better because he got to watch megadeth and testament. damnit. how i wish they’d set something like that here in the phi. well, i heard cristina aguilera was here a few weeks back. hehehe. dirty dirty.
so i spent most of the weekends going over the videos he took, eating like im on death row, trying to be a wiseguy on my bother’s new axe, pestering my tom yum niece and smoking alotta molasses straight from the shisha. my mum wasnt really excited over the shisha thing though, she was saying some weird religious incantations and told us that god doesnt want us to smoke. i wonder… hmm… bad bad.
the family is pretty thrilled that their youngest fella is back in town. you know that feeling when youre like 5 years old and a new baby comes along and takes the whole family’s attention? and you sit there in a corner bitter and planning your evil scheme how to get rid of the newly found enemy? yea that kind of feeling. LOL, of course im just kidding, im already 26.
…i stopped feeling like that when i turned 24. hahaha.
Clint: What did you just say? Mike: What? Clint: Just now, man. When you walked past, what’d you say? Mike: About what? Clint: You said, “Someone’s tokin’ some reefer.” Mike: No, I meant somewhere I smell some pot, you know? It was just an observation. Clint: Oh, an observation, huh? Well who the hell are you, man? Isaac fucking Newton?
before i return to hades, one of the things that i will do for myself is to get away from home for 100 days.
id sure be married by then, with kids (i’d name them jamaica & chicane, btw) and more resposibilities. but im’a explain it to me wifey real plain and simple. i gotta do this and she just gotta take care of the kids for more than 3 months okay, there’s a big chance that wont work. hehehe. pero sabi nga ni bino, lets play it by ear haha.
i’d start in manila of course. i wont have any itinerary. i would just pick the first place i’d go to and start from there. i can only stay in one place for a maximum of 5 days and i cant go back to the same place unless i’d be passing thru only. like of course, manila or cebu or any of the key cities of the phi. yea, i guess majority of that 100 days would be around the phi only. the world would hafta wait. hehe.
hmmm… just thought of something better! maybe i’d just take the family along. Im sure wifey, jamaica and chicane will be all up for it. yea, that sure would be a lot better…
Blue on black
Tears on a river
Push on a shove
It dont mean much
Joker on jack
Match on a fire
Cold on ice
A dead mans touch
Whisper on a scream
Doesnt change a thing…
i think these are the two best covers of nine inch nail’s hurt song from their 1994 studio album, The Downward Spiral.
this is Johnny Cash’s rendition, released around 2002. Cash died in 2003. Trent Reznor liked the cover so much he considers it “a song that is not his anymore”.
and here’s a cover by sevendust back in their acoustic gig in 2004. Lajon Witherspoon didnt sing the lines though, but still, it wasnt bad.
Jesse: Oh, God, why weren’t you there, in Vienna? Celine: I told you why. Jesse: Well, I know why, I just - I wish you would have been. Our lives might have been so much different. Celine: You think so? Jesse: I actually do. Celine: Maybe not. Maybe, we would have hated each other eventually. Jesse: Oh what, like we hate each other now? Celine: You know, maybe we’re - we’re only good at brief encounters, walking around in European cities in warm climate. Jesse: Why didn’t we exchange phone numbers and stuff? Why didn’t we do that? Celine: Because we were young and stupid. Jesse: Do you think we still are? Celine: I guess when you’re young, you just believe there’ll be many people with whom you’ll connect with. Later in life, you realize it only happens a few times. Jesse: And you can screw it up, you know, misconnect.
